I met a very good friend by watching him swing a golf club in a park. I had noticed him across the street in the late spring knocking around a few balls in the park. The park is about two hundred yards long and just as wide. He had a good swing, so I thought that maybe he was a keen golfer that would be interested in going golfing sometime in the next couple of weeks. I walked across the street and went up to him and introduced myself with my usual cheerful, warm greeting. We started talking instantly like old friends do, but we just met, anyway we talked about golf for an hour or two, finally we decided to go golfing and that we should make a tee time.I said that maybe I would see him in the park again and that I would likely be hitting the ball around too. I eventually met the rest of the family and started going over to his house to watch golf and hockey on his beautiful large plasma screen television. It’s sure is nice to have decent friends that are relatively stable in your life, being single is great for freedom but you need to have friends to confide in now and then. My friend is good for that, he always gives his honest opinion no matter what or who is hearing it, he is an intellectual that has done his homework on many topics and issues of social importance.
One of our topics of interest are the movies, when we play golf we play guess the actor in between shots, this is a good way to kill some time between taking your shot. Something like the facts or trivia games you see on the shelves in the retail computer stores. Another guessing game we played was placing golf dates with historical times and events in history. Computers are our main tools for our work, my friend uses computers for circuit board design, and I use the computer for everything in my line of work which is the internet. We have been out golfing many times since we became friends four years ago, we always have a very good time golfing no matter what we score. The both of us understand that the short period of time that you are here on this earth leaves little or no time for complaining or feeling bad about one’s self. I consider golfing with anyone a privilege, so I treat them accordingly by making myself a pleasure to be around for the day. We are still golfing together, but not as much this year due to too much work. I am trying to get the time management skills working better for my business, after all I want to have more time to help others with their golf game, so I have to manage my time more efficiently. Really all I want to do is golf, I think that is a very common thought these days during the summer months for most of us with too much work. You should cherish your fun time and friends, they are very good to have and know in your lifetime. Because in the end that is what really matters.
